A Final Letting Go: Finding Comfort
|Sometimes no matter what we do, or how hard we try, we lose someone we love. When a parent loses a child, it is a wound that goes to the core, and one that is difficult to carry.|
If you have lost a child to an illness or accident,
Find someone to talk to whether they are a friend or a professional if you need to process your emotions. If you are overwhelmed, getting professional counseling can help steady your path. If money is an issue, see if there is a local organization or agency that does either pro-bono (i.e. free) or limited cost/sliding scale fees. Spiritual counseling is another option, depending on your personal beliefs, and can be a source of comfort. Journaling is another way to process your feelings, but please do not use it in place of professional advice. You can also talk to your medical doctor if you are overwhelmed by the events surrounding your child's passing.
If you are visiting this page due to the death of your child, please know how deeply sorry I am for your loss.
I highly recommend the following links for sites:
Compassionate Friends - an organization dedicated to supporting family after the death of a child.
Hospice - one of the most respected organizations and most knowledgeable about grieving.
You are not alone.
Many blessings to you
